The Institute links with other African institutions sharing the same objectives, particularly with the Organization of African Unity (OAU) which will assist in developing the political support for education for all in Africa as part of its Decade of Education (1997-2006) programme. The Institute also works closely with the working groups of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (AEDA), another key partner of the Institute. The main thrust of the Institute is to work with government ministries and departments, especially those active in educational planning, management, curriculum development, and distance education. The Institute also works to strengthen African non-governmental organizations, including the Forum for African Women Educationalist's (FAWE), research networks, and professional associations, such as teachers' associations. |
